About Me

My name is Zeenat Hutchings and I am a person-centred counsellor with a background in Mental Health Nursing. I currently work in sexual trauma and recovery, and domestic violence as well as generic counselling. I am empathic, honest and work in a trauma informed manner and offer a calm and confidential space for clients to explore their issues. I am of black/African origin and welcome clients from all backgrounds.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - registry number 397876 - and I abide by their code of ethics.

Asking for help is daunting. The first step to recovery is taking action to implement changes.

My passion is helping people reach their potential and to achieve their authentic self. I have had personal experience of feeling "lost" and "disconnected" myself and have a level of understanding of how this feels. I myself have had personal therapy and have found the process to be life changing and empowering.

Therapy is...

Not only about talking but it is about being heard. It provides a confidential and non-judgemental space to explore your fears, vulnerabilities, strengths, hopes and dreams and be challenged to step out of your comfort zone. It gives you a great opportunity to learn something new about yourself that you may have not have known before. It builds resilience to address past traumas and start your journey towards healing.

Be empowered...

Learn that not all our thoughts are facts. Noticing these negative thoughts, talking about them, will help build resilience, self-esteem, confidence and enable you to set healthy boundaries, which in turn will improve your emotional regulation, learn healthier coping strategies, and learn to cope better with life’s challenges and stresses.

Choice...

Therapy will teach you new skills to enable you to implement small but impactful changes in your life but more importantly you will learn to trust your instincts and believe in yourself more. In the words of Carl Rogers: “I am not perfect but I am enough”.
